By using GPS systems in our work with athletes, we have the ability to constantly monitor and analyze the values achieved during specific activities.
Load monitoring allows you to expand the overall control process by focusing on its most important aspects, such as: injury prevention, the broadly understood form of players, or the control of a comprehensive training process.
Getting to know the possibilities of the players
The basis for monitoring and optimization of training loads is knowledge about the players, which is helpful in carrying out various motor tests. The results collected from them give some feedback and, importantly, on their basis, you can create a player’s profile and properly plan subsequent training stimuli, taking into account the individualisation of a specific unit.
The analysis of data from the GPS system allows you to control the players in terms of individual and group. By analyzing the results of a selected athlete, we can influence the optimization of his training process and determine the desired and undesirable reactions to specific stimuli. However, by focusing on group measurements, it is possible to compile individual players’ reactions to the same external and internal loads and to evaluate individual formations or units against the others. The indicators read from the transmitters are used to specifically assess the player’s potential, and the key feature of the monitoring systems is that from the selected device it is possible to obtain many important values that correlate with each other and those that, when analyzed individually, will have an equally significant impact on the shaping of selected motor and overall features of football player development.
On the basis of the values obtained from the GPS system, it is possible to plan subsequent training microcycles, which also makes it possible to rotate the available data according to the period in the macro and mesocycle.
Data from monitoring can exclude accidental actions, and at the same time they are used by coaches to diagnose deficits of individual players. By analyzing the values obtained from training units or matches, we are able to detect individual deviations from the average results. In such a case, the information obtained during the data analysis allows us to draw appropriate conclusions necessary to determine further loads and optimize training adapted to a specific unit. This gives the opportunity to work with the athlete in terms of his deficits, as well as taking into account his strengths. As a result, a given player has the opportunity to constantly work on specific motor skills that will affect the individual development of the unit.
The main parameters that are analyzed in particular by coaches are indicators responsible for the explosiveness and intensity of the game, i.e. the number of sprints and accelerations, or the distance covered in the sprint and in individual heart rate zones.
Thanks to the GPS technology devices used in the training process, we are able to adjust the training loads so that they are forceful and difficult, but accessible enough to challenge the current disposition of the players. What’s more, thanks to GPS devices we can get feedback on the implementation of specific assumptions, effectiveness and efficiency of selected training means and methods. GPS systems allow for the individualization of training and the selection of specific activities in relation to an individual, formation or a larger group. Therefore, they have a very significant influence on making conscious decisions about improving sports performance.
Shaping motor features
To sum up, thanks to the use of GPS monitoring systems and further analysis of the collected data, we have the opportunity to shape the individual motor features of selected players through the appropriate selection of training methods and means, as well as adjusting the loads to a specific unit. By analyzing the current form of the player, his predispositions and intended goals, the appropriate form of training should be selected, at the same time choosing the appropriate number of repetitions in a series or the duration of a given exercise, and specifying actions for continuous development. By constantly managing the activities, we can control the training process so that the body constantly reacts to given stimuli, as a result of which it will regularly develop and raise the sports form to a higher and higher level.
